Ajax confirmed the signing of Sven Mislintat on Tuesday. The German has been announced as the Amsterdam club’s new director of football.
With the arrival of Sven Mislintat, the Godenzonen finally named a successor to Marc Overmars. On February 7 last year, Marc Overmars was sacked by Ajax following allegations of harassment against female workers at the club. The investigation continues to date.

After nearly ten years under Marc Overmars, Ajax have long sought a successor to the club’s manager and former player. Gerry Hamstra and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar worked together in this role for a few months. The pair were responsible for forming the Amsterdam club’s squad this season, along with Alfred Schreuder, then the club’s coach at the beginning of that season.
Sven Mislintat signs with Ajax for three seasons. The fifty-year-old German starts immediately at Ajax.
