Ajax want Tijjani Reijnders to replace Edson Álvarez

According to De Telegraaf, AFC Ajax have contacted Tijjani Reijnders to see if he would be available to make a move to Amsterdam next season. The Godenzonen’s interest in Tijjani Reijnders exists due to the great possibility of Edson Álvarez leaving at the end of that season.

It would not be the first time that Ajax have been interested in an AZ Alkmaar player to replace a departed player in the squad. That happened last season when Nicolás Tagliafico left the Amsterdammers to sign for Olympique Lyonnais and Ajax went in search of Owen Wijndal. He was an AZ Alkmaar athlete and was cleared to sign with Ajax for ten million euros.

The expectation is that AZ Alkmaar will not release Tijjani Reijnders easily. In January, the Cheeseheads signed a new contract with the athlete that will last until the end of the 2026/27 season. After the departure of Teun Koopmeiners to Atalanta, Tijjani Reijnders became a regular in the team.
