Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink set to be assistant coach to Gareth Southgate in England

According to Sky Sports England, former Dutch striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink will be added to the coaching staff of the England national team in the coming days.

He would arrive to replace the departure of Chris Powell who was assistant coach to Gareth Southgate. When they were both players, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Gareth Southgate formed a partnership at Middlesbrough for a few seasons.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has been out of a job since September. After seven games, he resigned from Burton Albion. Prior to that, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has worked at Nottingham Forest (as an assistant coach), Royal Antwerp in Belgium, Burton and Queens Park Rangers.

The expectation is that Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink can work alongside Gareth Southgate in the coming days and lead the England team in the next commitments. England will then play Italy and Ukraine in Euro 2024 qualifying. On March 23, England will play Italy away from home. Three days later, it will be the turn to receive in Wembley, Ukraine.
