Ricardo de Burgos will referee the game between Union Berlin and Ajax

UEFA has appointed a referee commission from Spain for the clash between 1.FC Union Berlin and AFC Ajax in Germany. The duel that will take place at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei, will be whistled by the young Spanish referee, Ricardo de Burgos. He will have the help of assistants Diego Barbero and Guadalupe Porras Ayuso. At VAR, Xavier Estrada Fernandez and Cesar Soto Grado will be responsible for technology. Miguel Ángel Ortiz Arias is the fourth referee for that match.

This will be the second time that Ricardo de Burgos will referee a game for a Dutch club. The first time was this season, when he refereed Feyenoord’s 4-2 loss to SS Lazio in Italy.

It will also be the second time that he referees a match for a club in Germany. The first time this happened was when 1. FC Köln lost to Partizan in that season’s UEFA Europa Conference League.

  1. Watched Leverkusen and Monaco.5-5 aggre and into penaltys after extra time. Leverkusen winning and qualifying for next round. Have to say Bakker is now burning all cylinders and worthy to be called up by koeman. It’s very notably when he starts for Leverkusen, the team does well. Not saying entirely because of him but overall from stats when he is not starting to when he has.

It’s also very notable how he scares attackers away and from going outside. Maybe because of his robust tackling and hard physic forcing them to pass back if not laterally rather than taking him on one on one.. He no more buckles underneath on ball and this has been a marked improvement. Scored a goal which was ruled offside but put in a good shift going forward as well. Triangle passes, linking up was excellent. Didnt had few stray passes and nervy moments but overall was good. Another notable improvement in his game has been his ability to now run inside with ball and when he cant go outside or is covered . This is often where you see dutch fullbacks passing backwards.

Frimpong was normal day in the office. Was more attacking minded than bakker as usually and had a assist on Writz goal after his initial shot was fumbled by Nubel. This guy in his prime will be devastating.

Boadu came on late in the game and continued in the extra time. As Usual required servicing but didnt get any clear opportunities.

Also watch ajax vs union Berlin.
Apart from Timber No one else from Ajax deserves to be called up by koeman. If it does happen I’m afraid it’s gonna be the same old story. Hitting the fork in your own foot and the circus will continue with him.Even in back 4 it’s hard imagining Timber starting. His height factor / weakness has now being exposed in emphatic fashion especially when they are on back foot under pressure. Nunez vs benfica if I recall last season.

doekhi was a big threat and target man on corners and set pieces. His development looks to be good at UB. I think the challenge for him would to establish himself more on attacking play from the back.

Ajax simply needs a overhaul. They need more players who can lift / inject quality in the side for the sake of competing at European level and to fill those voids left by departures.

  2. Bad week for the Dutch. PSV and Ajax are out.

The forward situation is not better. Depay on the bench entire match against Madrid. Malen got a few minutes as sub for Dortmund, Gakpo started for Liverpool but was no threat. Summerville and Kluivert used to do well but they lost their starting spot recently. Dallinga might be the only forward that does well in top 5 league.

  3. I felt Ajax moved the ball well, just lacked the cutting edge in the final third. This is the same story for the NT.
Curious to see how Koeman will solve this conundrum. We badly need a Van Persie, Van Nistelrooy, Bergkamp, Kluivert, Hasselbaink.

  4. I wanting to see what koeman has picked up from WC and in which direction he wants to take the NT in. It obvious he is not inheriting the same caliber of team which he inherited in 2018. I mean in terms of Balance and player form. This time around he has to start from scratch given the form of experienced players, new players that need to be injected into the team etc.

Watched NEC and Volendam. NEC comfortably winning 3-0. First thing first, Sandler is such a calm and composed defender. It’s a pity how his hamstring problem has dragged him down from reaching his full potential. I really hope he goes on to recovery from it for one and all and takes it to next level.

Tavsan like I have mentioned if he reaches his full potential and goes on to play in more competitive and big club is a top prospect in the making. Has everything to become one. Tananne has been instrumental for NEC since returning to eredivisie and playing as AM. He is the one pulling the strings for them and again was decisive in the creativity department. Had a assist on the second goal.

I only watched because I wanted to have a look at cillessen. Not really Troubled but had a shoot blocked one on one from volendam attacker. Hard to call in which form he is in.

For volendam I hope to see Mbuyamba get call up for JO. Another defender whose future is destined for big things.

  5. i dont know When koeman is going to announce provisional squad…Arnie slot is masterng at feynoord,Ajax is regrouping under Heitinga…things are better…But we still need to beat fifa and their refrees to win a cup..Koeman needs a media manager who can handle this cluless media ,if Van gaal or any managemnet staff ponited out favoritism towards arjetina match at press ,then refree wouldnt have been that biased..
Depay and Berjwin are Bench players or last 20 minutes players at max…Time to move on from them..
time for Malen,Gakpo,Lang, simons as main stay….also we must try thijs dalinga at least a starter chance..
Lutshreal geetrudia and Tijjani renijders are phenomenon at their clubs…i think they out smarts out works any of the players of orange players who plays in their postion at oranje..
    —Malen——————-Gakpo———–
    ————Simmons——————–
    —Frenkie————Reinders——-
    ———–Weifer——————-
    Malacia—Virgil—–Devrij—Frimpong
    ————gk————————-

    1. @Emmanuel, Tijjani Reijnders is pretty average player. He is 25 and I think he reached his peak level. In my view he is not Oranje material. I think Jordy Classie is way better than Tijjani.

      1. Tijjani Reinders is better version of kuyt, who provides same work rate which is mandatory for modern pressing football,He can shoot from long range,He can dribble so i would consider that as bonus..if kuyt played 100 games Tijjani can play some games for NT..We need players with lungs..We need that in midfeild…He could be pain in the A@@s for opponets..i hope you get it..

  6. Well, the next game is against France and I think Koeman will not be experimenting much except when forced (Dumfries suspension, goalkeeper ?). Expect mostly the similar line-up as at WC while going back to 4 in defense where De Ligt restored to starting line-up in place of Timber : Ake,VVD, De Ligt, Frimpong. Midfield : Frenkie, Koopmeiners, Simons (Berghius) Front: Memphis, Gakpo, Lang
The following game though is against Gibraltar and there all bets are off – we can see truly refreshed squad

    1. @afc71…agree most the dutch coaches are stuborn dumbs or scared to change..Since we qualified for nations league semifinal we are in automatic qualification for play offs…from the group there is 2 spots direct and we have play off gurenteed…why not act brave…if dont qualify then you are not a good team or good team with flop manager…

  7. Arne Slot’s Feyenoord is worse than Arne Slot’s AZ. I watched Feyenoord – AZ game and it was very poor performance from both teams. Without referee’s help Feyenoord would not have won quite an average AZ.

    1. AZ Arnie has his own philosophy and it works..Feynoord is leage leader for a reason,..i dont know they are worse than his AZ..Being poor has become synonymous with dutch clubs nowadays..i think is as poor as PSv,Ajax,AZ…i have a hope in Arnie after eric Ten haag..Arnie has adaptability…i wish him well..

    1. @ Kevin

watched the highlights only but like I said earlier, he is now burning all cylinders and you can see now first hand how much he has improved offensively. these are marked improvements for him. expecting him to be called up.

      @ afc71

its dam worth taking risk for koeman, I dont think NT will win but hoefully can put in a good fight. this is why I said, it will be interesting to see in which direction koeman wants to take the team in. he cant be repeating/ using the same antics which yields productivity in specific games and not when needed the most. note this his has to change and the right players to be invested in and starting with the france game.

frenkie and koopmeiners combo doesnt bring that right balance in the midfield. at best koompeiners can be a good backup for for frenkie. No use wasting time there. matusiwa is the way forward and maybe others as mentioned.

      @ Emmanual

malen is bench player at Dortmund but I was thinking whether this would be a good game to start him up front if depay is really out of form. not sure though he consistently drifts to the left and would clash with the wingers. it has to be somebody who can move around all over the park. i guessing it would be weghorst.

      1. @wilson..Malen brings that baller thing,He can take on players and cross,He is not a great striker..But he is lethal on left..thats what wee need..he has extra pace…Depay is fading away ,Berjwin is disappearing,Danjuma deosnt want to work hard..then we are left with Malen,Lang,Gakpo and simmons.i would add summerville and Dalinga…agree on Weghorst he has work rate, connectivity with team mates are immense,he can physically handle any one…But he lacks pace, thats where we need fast agile players..

        1. you have been saying that for your whole life but then he hasn’t lived up to expectation at Dortmund or what ever you say he brings. lang, simons and gakpo are ahead of malen for that LW spot so dont think he will get any luck there. I dont see him getting a call up unless he comes in as a backup striker to weghorst , Depay (off the bench). and if thats the case then dallinga would miss out. the RW position is up for grabs but don’t think he will get a nod there. i hoping either of dilrosun, kluivert or tavsan get that call up at RW

  8. Koeman should do an experiment and build Oranje based on Eredivisie players. Player who regularly have playing time in their respective clubs aboard should also be invited, including Koopmeiners. The latter should be given full governance of the midfield by benching F. de Jong. Players who warm the bench in their respective clubs should not be invited into Oranje, including Depay.

    1. I agree with the benching of frenkie part, but not building the the team around eredivisie players. a mix would be ok. only simons and timber atm deserve to be called up as eredivsie players. maybe that feyenoord guy.

bakker, matusiwa, frimpong, van den bommen, botman, klivert, dilrousn.

  9. @Wilson – I got your point about worth taking the risk but have to disagree. From Koeman and KNVB standpoint he has to accomplish these things in his 1st game back:
    a) Do not lose – get the 20 game series without defeat continue
    b) Get ranking points – they all want to be in top 4 at least, so beating France will add 15-20 points
    c) Snow loyalty to his guys from 2018/19 period
    d) Boost team self-belief

  10. Cant see them winning. Let’s be practical here. This has to be the worst situation from player form point of view and even koeman cant do much about it. Like I said it’s better take the risk and at least put in a good fight.

  11. No using trying to show your might vs Gibraltar and trying to paint a fake picture. Remember its is becoming a trend and like I have said, when its needed the most it’s often not up to expectation and the same players with average team wants to prove critics wrong with lively performances. Player Investment has to be on spot this time around.

  12. @ afc71

    c) Snow loyalty to his guys from 2018/19 period”

I have said this thousands times here and saying this again with respect to the above.

Typical dutch style. hitting the fork in your own foot

  13. Oranje pre-selection: Grandfather Wijnaldum has been invited too…

Goalkeeper: Jasper Cillessen (N.E.C.), Mark Flekken (SC Freiburg), Andries Noppert (sc Heerenveen), Kjell Scherpen (Vitesse), Bart Verbruggen (RSC Anderlecht)

Defense: Nathan Aké (Manchester City), Daley Blind (Bayern Munich), Sven Botman (Newcastle United), Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool), Denzel Dumfries (Inter), Jeremie Frimpong (Bayer 04 Leverkusen), Lutsharel Geertruida (Feyenoord), Quilindschy Hartman (Feyenoord), Matthijs de Ligt (Bayern Munich), Tyrell Malacia (Manchester United), Kenny Tete (Fulham), Jurriën Timber (Ajax), Stefan de Vrij (Inter)

Midfield: Steven Berghuis (Ajax), Jordy Clasie (AZ), Ryan Gravenberch (Bayern Munich), Frenkie de Jong (Barcelona), Davy Klaassen (Ajax), Teun Koopmeiners (Atalanta), Marten de Roon (Atalanta), Kenneth Taylor (Ajax), Joey Veerman (PSV), Mats Wieffer (Feyenoord), Georginio Wijnaldum (AS Roma)

Attack: Steven Bergwijn (Ajax), Brian Brobbey (Ajax), Memphis Depay (Atlético Madrid), Cody Gakpo (Liverpool), Vincent Janssen (Royal Antwerp), Noa Lang (Club Brugge), Xavi Simons (PSV), Wout Weghorst (Manchester United)

  14. Underlying message to those snubbed: need to move to a contending club for European places in top 5 league. I mean Koeman didn’t even name Jerry St Juste who has been performing well at Sporting Club. Maybe that’s also showing his past loyalties to Benfica when he was manager there a long time ago? He named Kenny Tete bc of his past Oranje history & being in a top 6 EPL contender w/ Fulham.

Basically picked Veerman over vdB; Clasie & Wieffer over Matusiwa & Schouten. Even after the Tiggo Sport discussion where Ruud Gullit brought up Schouten could very well be that complimentary piece to FdJ…like a Busquets type DM for the Oranje….I can say many of top clubs in Serie A has him in their summer Mercato shortlist.

    1. That is not the message at all. Even look at your own examples.

Veerman > VDB – VDB plays on man u
Classie and Wieffer > Matusiwa and Schouten – The 2 snubbed players play in a top 5 league and the picked players are in eredivisie.

As for st juste – who would you drop for him. Ake, de ligt, de vrij, van dijk, botman, timber are all much better players than st juste. They are all performing at extremely high levels. It’s unfortunate but we have an abundance of class CB’s.

  15. When you pick wijnaldum who’s been away forever and Daley who doesn’t play anymore and Kenneth Taylor who has been bad for Ajax on a daily basis , and brobbey who is always underperforming, then you ignore dallinga and van der boomen who play in a real league and excel then that means nothing is changing in the mentality, and don’t be surprised guys when you see Kenneth Taylor, wijnaldum and Daley blind all included in the final list…: it is the same story all over

    1. Hartman, Malacia both are sensational.. Also we have a makeshift LB Nathan Ake… Then who needs bakker… May be over the place of blind…Also on right back.. Tete and Frimpong are regular compared to Dumfries…where is malen??. Summerville??… Our forward lines sucks.. Depay is 20 minutes fitness player…Berjwin is bench player… I hope Gravenberch and simons starts both games..

          1. Rensch is really good at ajax he is regular..much better than dumfries, and Tete…Good thing about RB is we have luxuary choicees,,Tete, dumfries,Frimpong,Rensch,Geetruida…if you take any 2 there wont be much problem at RB…But when you take old legged Blind at LB there will be problem…We dont have good LBs…We are left with ian maatsen, hartman and Malacia…alll will be overlooked for failed Blind/winjdal or make shift LB…Blind assistin messi and molina for arjetina goal…daley blind screwd van gaal…No matter how much you blame on virgil and Ake..blind could have saved that with alertness..

  16. I really pray that wijnaldum and blind show some unselfishness to retire from NT… Otherwise they will be called up for their experienced bottling at NT.. I mean not qualifiing for 2016 2018 and a poor performance at 2022..i look forward to France or Gibraltar match.. I wish they retire…

  17. –Gakpo—–lang—–
    ——-Simons——–
    Frenkie ——Gravenberch —
    ––——-Ake———
    Malacia —virgil–Deligt–Frimpong
    ————–Noppert ———

  18. The other thing to note which is disappointment as usually is the making of numbers game. There are some players who will just be chopped off come the final selection and the question remain why not call up players who can put up fight/ competition in individual positions. This is really disappointing to see continuing. Even though I have liked clasie over the years, he has no business in NT now because he thrives in Point back MF and NT doesnt play that because of frenkie. Why not call up matusiwa instead who can bring more dynamics to the midfield playing in any set up. I also wont be surprised if veerman is dropped as well. Straight drop

De Roon, klaassen, berghuis, Blind, just there to make it look good on paper.

  19. @ Alaa

Agree with your and after it’s like what orangutan used to say different coat but same fabrics.

To the critics who will come and say no it’s worth continuing from the WC,I will say to them this.remember what happened to the same squad 2018 under koeman after that NL. They were down the hill come the WC qualifiers. 4 years is lapsed and you still believe it’s worth investing in those players, its dumb especially now when there are options.

Just watch how the team will move forward, then back to square 1.
Another thing to note and also disappointing is how other teams are slowly catching up to NT in terms of focusing on their next generation. Spain for example, they will World champions again soon. You can tell they are going in the right direction.

I just dont know when they gonna get it right in NT.

  20. Also, we need speed up front. Raw speed like in Summerville would have been refreshing to have. Still, at least he is in U21 means he can transition to the senior squad anytime. 🤞

    1. Simons, gakpo and lang can bring that upfront. Alot of wingers as mentioned before have their stronghold on the left and this is fast becoming a problem for the right wing position. The wingers who are playing on the right haven’t been selected and this is another disappointment. Bergwijn selection is just rubbish.

  21. And the mother of all jokes will be when someone with gravenberch talent (who as a reminder always started under a genius like ten hag while ten hag kept Kenneth Taylor in u21 and almost never gave him a chance to be in the senior team or benched him when he did, so ten hag saw the huge gap in talent between gravenberch and Taylor) so so the mother of jokes is when koeman will drop gravneberch again for Kenneth Taylor, I understand Ryan gets few minutes with Bayern but look the mega names he competes with to find a place in Bayern, Kenneth Taylor wouldn’t be allowed on the field in a packed team like Bayern…but still koeman will pick Kenneth!!!!!!!!

    1. Why the ajax contingent are in the selection is again baffling.they are banging goals left right and centre vs weak eredivisie team and are deemed better than those who play weak in and weak out in more competitive leagues and vs stronger team.

I was hoping not to see this again but….

  22. I am disappointed with the pre selection squad choices there are certain players that shouldn’t be there like Taylor, Wijnaldum, Bergwijn. it would have been better if he gave the players from Ligue 1 and Bundesliga more chances such as van de boomen, Dahlinga, Doehki or Van de ven which play at a higher and more physical level than eredivisieAnd they will not take their call up for granted.

    1. I was going to say this. We have had enough of this selection policy. Koeman must look at quality not the team for which somebody is playing or else why he is selecting Noppert.

  23. Blind is sitting in bench of bayern still he gets called, wijnaldum is just back from injury,he plays but gets subbed..not great…Calling Blind and gini to NT was kind of cowards PU@@$@$ssy act…cowards never win anything they bottle it…
koopmeiners is out….i want to see Malen,Summerville in the team..though Brobbey is not in great form i want to see him in NT a try…our midfeild look thin, gets ran out of gas, forwards lacks quality…Gakpo is the lone wolf,May be Depay gets his fitness back and joins him, also simons might step up…
Deligt is in imperious form for bayern, nailing at LCB..We are stacked at defense…i feel botman ,Doekhi, struijk, van de ven has to wait for a while…i really like doekhi from his FC twete days…He bleeds for his team…who will be final 23
    Noppert,Cillesen,Verbrugen-3nos
    Virgil-Botman -Deligt-Timber-Frimpong-Geetruida-Malacia-Hartman-8nos
Frenkie-Gravenberch,Schouten,Simons,Van de boomen, Ake for DM–6nos
    Gakpo-Lang-Malen-Summerville-Wout Weghorst-Depay….

  24. Frimpong was named in Kicker’s Elf des Tages for the 6th time. Woohoo!! Now with the recent Koopmeiners injury, do we see a callup for Branco finally. Unfortunately he had a below average match v Clermont yesterday. But his overall form this season should merit a preselection call.

      1. I’ll just say Wilson that ur not a Branco fan & leave it at that. Matusiwa won’t be called bc of Clasie Wieffer & De Roon being called up. Schouten for me by technical default as they say.

        1. It’s no use deploying players where they have not played or have a strong hold. You must have seen boomen at Toulouse. He plays on the left side and is hardly rotated to any position. Its him ( left) , spierings ( centre)and that Belgium on the (right). The same as if you deploy frenkie on the right, a productivity level wont be the same. Even if you look at frenkie and koops combo. Koops has to fit in but then his productivity level is not that influencing (up and down) because he is not playing in his prefered position ( strong hold) where he is free to move around and dictate play.

  25. Things are looking better than a month ago. Depay is scoring goals; Gakpo is settling in a Liverpool (and his two goals against Man U were top rate); Deligt is playing well at Bayern, Van Dyke is rounding back into form.

The backline seems set (Ake, VVD, De ligt) except for rb, and even there you have decent options, Frimpong if Koeman wants to go more offensive, Tete if defense first.

The front line should have Gakpo and Depay, and the third will depend on whether Koeman wants to play either Weghorst in the center or Lang (putting Depay in the middle). Simons should be in the 10 role. Of that, I’d prefer to see Lang, just to see what 4 man attacking group of Gakpo, Depay, Lang and Simons would look like. But Weghorst brings a different quality and I’d be okay with him in the lineup.

The biggest unknown is who plays next FDJ. Been that way for awhile now.

I’m disappointed that Blind, Klaassen, Berweijn, Clasie are in the group. The best days of three of these guys are in the past, and Berweijn has not performed well enough of late.

I’d have liked to see Schouten, Gravenberch and Summerville in the group.

  26. Yes, agreed we should move on from Blind, Klaassen, Bergwijn, Clasie. + Janssen.
It will really be a sign of intent for change if they are all dropped from the final squad. 🤞.
