John Heitinga will not be Ajax coach next season

After five months in charge of the Ajax first team, John Heitinga is no longer the manager of the Amsterdam club. The club issued a statement in which it was announced that John Heitinga will not remain in charge of the professional team for the next season and that a new coach will be hired to lead the team.

There were twenty-two games leading AFC Ajax, with fourteen wins, three draws and five defeats. Under him, the Godenzonen scored forty-nine goals and conceded twenty-six goals.

John Heitinga was coaching Ajax’s B team and was given the opportunity to manage Ajacieden’s first team following the sacking of Alfred Schreuder in January. The expectation is that he managed to organize the team on the pitch and at least lead Ajax to compete in the UEFA Champions League next season.

He failed to help the Amsterdammers secure a place in the UEFA Champions League and lost the Dutch Cup final to PSV. In the last round of the Eredivisie, Ajax lost 3-1 to FC Twente in Enschede.
