Paweł Bochniewicz extends contract until 2026 with SC Heerenveen

Paweł Bochniewicz will stay at Abe Lenstra Stadion until the end of the 2025/26 season. SC Heerenveen announced the defender’s contract renewal this Monday.

When Paweł Bochniewicz arrived in 2020, he signed a three-year deal. At the end of that season, his contract would come to an end, but the Fries board liked what Paweł Bochniewicz presented during this period in Heerenveen and opted to renew the Polish defender’s contract.

With the injury of Sven van Beek, Paweł Bochniewicz inherited the title of captain of the defender who continues to recover from an injury and has no prediction of return to the lawns.

SC Heerenveen director of football Ferry de Haan understands that it would be difficult to keep Paweł Bochniewicz for a few more seasons.

“It won’t be easy keeping him with us. Analyzing the financial side, it will be a challenge for our club ′′ said Ferry de Haan at the end of October 2022. In December, with possible player sales, the scenario for renewing Paweł Bochniewicz’s contract was more positive.

“We believe that at SC Heerenveen, he will be able to develop further as a footballer. He is one of the main players in our squad. It is news that we are very happy to share with all of you and our fans” said Ferry de Haan.

This change will also be key for Arnaut Danjuma Groeneveld to try to become an option for the Dutch national team again. He came very close to playing in the World Cup with Louis van Gaal in Qatar, but injuries ended up reducing the chances of the striker who saw the World Cup in Qatar on television.
